The Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Round Street, Laurens at 1:16 yesterday afternoon on a domestic disturbance. A 20-year-old woman said she and a friend had gone to another friend’s house and when they returned her boyfriend said they were gone too long and started showing out. He reportedly was yelling and cursing and at one point allegedly threw a bottle, hitting her in the back. Deputy McMahan and Sgt. Carter entered the residence and were concerned about the conditions they found. Deputy McMahan noted files of trash and junk at both front and back doors making it unsafe for the children. Their bedrooms were allegedly filthy and the entire house was in disarray. Deputy McMahan placed the children in Emergency Protective Custody and called DSS. After a background check, the children were turned over to a grandparent.
While the officer was doing paperwork, the man reportedly came walking up out of the woods and he was arrested. 30-year-old Thomas Carson Lawson of 100 Round Street, Laurens was placed in the Johnson Detention Center on a charge of Criminal Domestic Violence.
