Clinton Public Safety officers were dispatched to Peachtree Street at 3:57 yesterday afternoon after a caller said a man was being assaulted. While in route to that location another call came in saying that this man and another were assaulting a woman on Willow Street. As officers investigated they heard allegations from two Peachtree Street men, aged 33 and 25, who indicated they had gone to a 27-year-old woman’s house to talk with her about her girlfriend breaking into their house a year ago. They reported the woman jumped on one of them and the other attempted to break it up. Then the female subject’s mother came to officers, irate, saying they should have talked with her, her daughter and the other woman first. These folks reportedly gave a different version of the events, indicating the men assaulted first. After hearing from both sides, officers decided it appeared to be a case of mutual combat. They arrested the 25 and 33-year-old men from Peachtree Street and the 27-year-old woman from Willow Street and placed them in City Jail, where they were being held overnight on Disorderly Conduct charges.
