Laurens County Council this week unanimously approved a resolution that authorizes a first amendment to a to a 2002 fee agreement between Laurens County and Kimura, Inc. County Attorney Sandy Cruickshanks told council that the company fell slightly behind the $5 million investment level initially agreed on. He noted that since a law was changed to make that a $2.5 million investment this week’s resolution will keep things in compliance. Cruickshanks said that he met with company representatives and there was an agreement to adjust a payback to an owed amount of $20,000.00 which they agreed to pay back over a period of six months beginning in January. Cruickshanks told council that this agreement will be of benefit to the county. Chairman Coleman told council that this will get everything straight and get Kimura back on track.
