Laurens County Sheriff’s Lt. Marlon Higgenbotham and Sgt. Nick Moye went to Laurens Villa overnight Saturday night looking for a woman wanted for charges by a downstate police department. At 1:16 a car pulled in with the wanted person as a passenger. A check of her reportedly located a plastic baggy containing an ice-like substance. 43-year-old Karen Marie Bell of 309 Exchange Drive #9D, Laurens was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. A warrant states that an investigation by Lt. Higgenbotham indicates that on November 2nd one Karen Marie Bell knowingly possessed acetaminophen and codine phosphate, a schedule III controlled substance, without authority to do so. She was given a $5,000 personal recognizance bond on the Laurens County charge, but was being held for the Greeleyville Police Department.
The man driving the car Ms. Bell was in was charged with an Open Container violation.
