A Clinton teenager and her older brother both died from a tw0-car wreck on the Laurens-Clinton Highway near the Country Club this Monday morning. Highway Patrol Lance Corporal Tony Keller said the wreck happened at 8:43 Monday morning in the westbound lanes of US 76 1.22 miles east of Laurens. The deceased were driver and right-rear seat passenger in a 1999 Mitsubishi which was engaged in a collision with a 2000 Ford SUV.
Laurens County Coroner Nick Nichols identified the deceased as the driver, 18-year-old Katie Ann Berry of 315 Beauregard Street, Clinton and her brother, 27-year-old Brandon Henry Berry, also of 315 Beauregard Street. Nichols said both died of Blunt Force Trauma at the time of the wreck. A third occupant in their car was airlifted to Greenville for treatment.
Trooper Keller said that the 2nd vehicle was driven by 38-year-old April Guess of Laurens. She and a 14-year-old male passenger of the SUV were taken by EMS to the GHS Laurens County Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Lance Corporal Keller did not give any details on how the fatal crash occurred, saying that a MAIT team of the SCHP was investigating. Traffic was blocked for hours as the wreck was investigated this morning.
