The installation of thousands of feet of new natural gas lines was one of the accomplishments for 2014 noted at the December meeting of the Laurens Commission of Public Works this week. General Manager John Young gave a Top Ten list of accomplishments. In other administrative reports, he noted the natural gas crews are working on Phase 2-A of the gas line replacement project, which they reported as going well. There was one problem noted, on November 15th that caused low pressure in the newly replaced gas lines. This reportedly was precipitated by unusually cold temperatures and the resulting high usage among customers. The Commissioners learned that the CPW is on track to break a 10-year record for the volume of natural gas sales this year.
