Clinton Public Safety units were conducting a DUI checkpoint on A.B. Jacks Road and Clinton Manor Drive at 2:50 Saturday afternoon when officers were approached by a vehicle. Officer Stephen Lawton approved the vehicle and asked the driver for his license. During the time with the vehicle he reported observing a bulge in the pocket of a passenger in the rear seat. It was later determined to be a plastic bag with a small amount of marijuana and another bag was found that reportedly contained an amount of white substance identified as cocaine. 38-year-old George Lee Anderson of 233 Grove Street, Oakdale Acres, Clinton was arrested on charges of Possession of Cocaine Base, Simple Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was later released on personal recognizance bonds totaling $6,256.
