A home break-in and assault last Thursday was alleged in the arrest of a Clinton man Friday. The Sheriff’s Office charged 22-year-old Shaun Douglas Staton of 914 North Adair, Clinton with Criminal Domestic Violence, Burglary 1st Degree, Kidnapping and Assault and Battery 3rd Degree. Deputy J.L. Taylor states that investigation indicates that on February 19th Shaun Douglas Staton caused physical harm and had the apparent present ability to cause physical harm or injury under circumstances that reasonably created fear of imminent peril to the victim. Taylor states that Staton broke into a dwelling on West Calhoun Street, Joanna during the nighttime on February 19th with intent to commit a crime therein and that he did unlawfully seize, confine, kidnap or abduct the victim from that residence. Taylor further states that Staton committed a battery by pushing a victim down. Bond was denied on all the charges. Shaun Douglas Staton remained in the Laurens County Detention Center today.
