The South Carolina Forestry Commission has presented a check to help with volunteer firefighting training in Laurens County. A check was presented last Friday morning at the Laurens County Fire Coordinator’s Office. Four of Laurens County’s rural fire departments — Reno, Hickory Tavern, Durbin Creek and Waterloo – were selected to receive $16,748 in federal grants intended to help volunteer firefighting organizations better prepare for firefighting in rural areas.
