Laurens Police officers were dispatched to South Harper Extension at 6:34 last evening on a report of an assault. A 57-year-old man said that he had been driving a 38-year-old woman and that she assaulted him when he advised her she owed him money and wanted her to get out of his car when she would not pay him. Officer Kanipe then went to the woman’s house and spoke with her. She indicated that she had given the man a gas card to fill his car for him to take her and her children on errands. She said that after taking them to a few locations he wanted $20 more for gas. She said when she told him no he threw her and her children out of the car on South Harper Extension. The three children gave statements supporting Mom’s story. The case on an alleged assault was closed due to lack of evidence.
