Monday at 4:20pm, Central Dispatch received a call from a complainant concerning an assault occurring in front of her place of employment. She stated there were multiple female subjects assaulting another female on the sidewalk on North Harper Street. Sgt. Thibodeau and Patrolman Gallo of the Laurens Police Department were dispatched and spoke with the victims who stated they were walking to the store when two female subjects, who live near them, exited a vehicle and assaulted them. One victim said she observed the vehicle pass them several times on North Harper Street prior to the assault and as they exited the vehicle the subjects were cussing at the victims. The complaint stated that the two victims were walking up the road minding their own business when the two subjects exited the vehicle and attacked them. The subjects were identified by the victims as sisters who live several houses down from them on the opposite side of the street. Officers were told the subjects initially began assaulting the older victim and then assaulted her juvenile sister when she attempted to interfere and break up the fight. The older victim had had several minor lacerations on her face, knee and ascratch marks on her upper chest. And complained of a headache. The younger victim stated the older victim was slammed into a pole on the ground. The older victim was transported by Laurens County EMS to the Laurens County Memorial Hospital for further evaluation. A second report was taken at the hospital explaining further that the younger victim had recorded the incident on her cell phone and a detailed description of the assault.
