Laurens Police Sgt. James Nolen was dispatched to Irby Avenue at 11:18 last night on a vehicle hit-and-run. A man said he heard a loud bang and stepped outside to observe major damage to his vehicle, but didn’t initially see any other vehicle. His 1999 Jeep had been parked at the curb in front of his residence. He said that while he was outside a gray sedan drove by with major damage to the driver’s side front, with damage that appeared to match the collision with his vehicle. Officer Nolen spoke with others who lived nearby who appeared irritated about his questioning about the hit-and-run. Meanwhile, vehicle parts matching the description were reportedly located on Irby Avenue and a section of a front bumper was found nearby on Academy Street. Partial information on the suspect vehicle license plate was also noted.
