Recently re-elected members of the Laurens Commission of Public Works took the oath of office for their new terms at the April meeting of the CPW last evening. After Gerald Abercrombie and Ulysses Cunningham were reinstalled to the board, Parker Moore was re-elected as chairman of the Commission. For the first time the CPW added a Vice-Chairman. Tom Hardy was unanimously-elected to that post.
The commissioners received an Audit Report from Kevin Madden, CPA of Greene, Finney and Horton. He noted the 2014 audit showed the CPW in a good financial condition with it’s net increasing approximately $814,000 from the previous year to $26.2 million for 2014. The unrestricted net position was $4.0 million, an increase of approximately $167,000. The CPW last night voted to participate in the South Carolina Local Government Investment Pool.
