Fires of suspicious origin destroyed two mobile homes in Laurens County yesterday.
Laurens County Deputy Sibley was dispatched to a suspicious fire at Mount Pleasant Estates Road off Indian Mound Road near Cold Point at 8:41 yesterday morning. Fire had destroyed a mobile home valued at $15,000. The Laurens County Fire Department received a call on the fire at 7:37 am. The 1988 model mobile home was a three-bedroom structure that had an addition making it a four-bedroom residence. The owner indicated his daughter and her husband had recently moved from the residence to Greenwood. Cause of the fire remained under investigation.
Deputies were dispatched at 9:36 last night to another mobile home fire on
Mountain View Drive at Hellams Road. It appears someone may have purposely set it on fire. A white Astro van that was suspected of having been seen in the area about the time the fire started was found wrecked about a mile away. The mobile home was reported to be a total loss.
