Clinton Public Safety and Laurens City Police yesterday served charges on a Clinton man for alleged assaults on three people in January. 37-year-old Eric Tyre Watson of 111 South Jones Street, Clinton was charged by Clinton Public Safety with Criminal Domestic Violence 3rd Offense and with Assault and Battery 3rd Degree. Laurens Police charged him with Criminal Domestic Violence.
Clinton Public Safety Officer Mercer states that on January 31st Watson struck the victim about her arms and pushed her to the ground. Mercer states Watson and the victim have had a romantic relationship and lived together in the past, and that he has two prior convictions for Criminal Domestic Violence in the past ten years. PSO Mercer also alleges that on Gary Street Extension the day before, January 30th, Mr. Watson struck a victim with a closed hand in the face causing the victim’s eye to swell shut and causing the victim to seek medical treatment.
Laurens Police Sgt. Shane Martin states that on January 1st Mr. Watson assaulted a victim by pushing and shoving her while gaining entry into her home on Chestnut Street, and that the subject and victim have children in common.
Bonds on the two Clinton charges were set totaling $5,262.50. A bond hearing on the Laurens charge is expected today. Eric Tyre Watson remained in the Johnson Detention Center overnight.
