Laurens Police were dispatched to a disturbance on Lee Street at 2:25 Saturday afternoon. A 20-year-old woman said that her aunt, with whom she has been living, had placed several baskets of her clothes outside, and that she was wanting her to leave the residence. The young woman said she had told her aunt that she had to go through the Eviction process to get her to leave. Sgt. Simmons confirmed for the older woman that she does need to use the eviction process to get the niece to leave her house. The older woman was reportedly very upset, stating that the younger woman refused to obey the rules of the household and had no respect for her aunt. As Sgt. Simmons was speaking with the two women, the aunt grew angry again and allegedly slapped her niece on the top of her head. Although there was no injury observed, the younger woman said she wanted charges pressed on her aunt for the strike. The 60-year-old woman was arrested on an Assault and Battery charge. She was later released on a $500 personal recognizance bond. A follow-up report indicates that while the older woman was in custody of Laurens Police, her niece moved all her belongings out of the residence and his no longer residing at the Lee Street residence.
