Progress for a possible new industrial plant in Laurens was announced at last night’s Laurens Commission of Public Works meeting for October. Commissioners learned that they’ve received a verbal commitment that the CPW will be receiving a Santee Cooper Grant of $200,000 to help with providing utility service to a company, temporally known as “Project Lorado.” This company plans on purchasing 30 acres in Hunter Industrial Park. The Santee Cooper grant is given to assist with land purchases and site preparations for qualified economic development projects. Commissioners were informed that this project proposes constructing a manufacturing plant that will employ 90 people with a capital investment of up to $25 million.
