Sheriff’s Sgt. Ron Wood was dispatched to a café on Neely Ferry Road, Hickory Tavern at 7:30 yesterday morning after the owner arrived and discovered someone had broken into the business overnight and had taken the cash register, valued at $300. Video of the area from a nearby business was to be obtained and reviewed for further evidence. The case was referred to Investigations.
Sgt. Wood was dispatched back to the same Hickory Tavern business center at 10:11 yesterday morning after the owner of a Hair Studio arrived to find her Christmas lights were not on. She found her power was off and called Laurens Electric. They discovered that the power meter had been stolen from the salon. A new meter was installed. Sgt. Wood reported finding pry marks on the lock of the front door, but noted it did not appear entry had been obtained.
Sgt. Wood was dispatched to another Burglary on Highway 76 just west of Downtown Hickory Tavern at 1:29 yesterday afternoon. The owner of the property reported that sometime since November 1st someone had came onto his property and removed several items valued at $1,350. Missing items reportedly include a 1/25th size John Deere tractor, a microwave, brass candle stand, an antique lamp and fishing rods and reels. A list of other missing items was still pending. The burglary was referred to Sheriff’s Investigations.
