Charges of 2nd Degree Domestic Violence and Disorderly Conduct were served on a Clinton man Friday, following his arrest the night before by Clinton Public Safety. 25-year-old Marquis Asyaguan McGowan of 183 Cypress Street, Clinton is accused of assaulting the victim by pushing her against the wall and striking her with a small Christmas tree, causing a small abrasion to the left side of her face. This allegedly happened in a residence in Landau Apartments at 1321 South Broad, and in the presence of a child. The defendant and victim share a child in common and have lived in the same household by means of a romantic relationship. The warrant charging McGowan with Disorderly Conduct last Thursday night states that he conducted himself in a loud and boisterous manner in the Landau parking lot by using profane language and causing a disturbance.
A $500 personal recognizance bond was set on the Disorderly Conduct charge. A $10,000 cash or surety bond was set on the Domestic Violence 2nd Degree. Marquis Asyaguan McGowan was placed in the Johnson Detention Center Friday, and remained there this morning.
