Laurens City Police Officer Sherfield was dispatched to Lurey Street at 9:40 last night on a report of a disturbance between a mother and her son. On arrival he was informed that the son had been drinking all evening and was arguing with his mother’s finance. At one point his mother and her finance were in bed and the son allegedly kicked in the bedroom door then went around to the side of the bed the fiancé was on and struck him in the face with his fist. 38-year-old Josh Ruben Kane of 205 Lurey Street, Laurens was arrested and Officer Sherfield issued a ticket at 10:00 pm charging him with Simple Assault. Josh Ruben Kane was being held overnight in the Johnson Detention Center, pending a bond hearing today.
