Night of Drama for Local Man

A Clinton man apparently had an evening of drama last night. This began to become obvious to Clinton Public Safety officers when they responded to a 911 to Woodrow Street at 8:11pm. The initial report was that an “unruly” person had called 911. Officers talked with the man, who they noted appeared very intoxicated and upset about the matter, where his air conditioner unit was pushed into the widow and damaged his television. He was reluctant to give details. His mother indicated that a man from next door had pushed the air conditioner into the complainant’s bedroom, damaging his television. The man was reluctant to name the person who had pushed in the air condition, but appeared very upset about his television being broken. Officers were to check today in hopes the man would be sober enough to make decisions as to whether to pursue a charge of Malicious Damage or to take the matter to civil court.

But the situation continued to evolve, and officers were called to the neighbor’s residence at 9:29 last night. There, a woman said she had been in her bedroom watching “Big Bang Theory” on her television when her air conditioning unit came inward through her window. She reportedly looked outside and saw the neighbor officers had been talking with earlier in the evening. He was reportedly standing there looking in her window as though he didn’t know anyone was there. The woman’s daughter reportedly told of hearing the noise of the AC falling and coming to check, believing her mother had fallen. The a/c damage was listed as $100.

When an officer asked the original complainant why he pulled the window air conditioner from his neighbor’s house, he reportedly replied that he didn’t pull it, he pushed it thru the widow. The woman next door wanted to prosecute for the damage to her air conditioner. Meanwhile, Officers were informed of a fight earlier between the man who first reported his TV broken and the man next door who was accused of pushing the air condition in, damaging the TV. There was a report that his a/c was pushed in during that fight.

Officers placed the original complainant under arrest for Malicious Damage to the woman’s window air conditioner unit. He reportedly resisted efforts to arrest him, wrapping his feet around objects in his house, but was eventually taken to jail and booked for the malicious damage charge. The original complainant about his broken TV was being held overnight, pending arraignment this morning.
