Laurens City Police responded to the hospital at 3:20 Sunday morning in reference to an assault that reportedly occurred at Rack-N-Roll on East Main. Officer Johnson reported observing a man bleeding from his upper right arm. The man said he was at the bar ordering a drink around midnight when an unknown male bumped him, then told him he needed to apologize to a motorcycle club member at the bar. He said he didn’t know what the person was talking about and said advised the man he would not apologize to anyone. At that point he said he was struck by an unknown object, which cut his arm. He was then escorted out of the bar by a man working the door. A man who had reportedly been with him corroborated his oral statement. Officer Johnson spoke with a witness in the bar who reportedly told of observing the victim and his friend hitting the subject, knocking him to the ground, and said that’s when the subject pulled a knife in defensive action. The employee noted he took the knife used in the cutting.
