During this week’s meeting of the Laurens County School District 56 Board of Trustees, board members were briefed on progress being made on the renovations at the former Clinton High School on North Adair Street in Clinton. Dr. David Pitts presented a slide show of the ongoing roofing project as well as some work on the interior of the building. He called the board’s attention to the work being done by the district’s maintenance employees who, he said, were saving the district significant money by using their own expertise and labor in completing tasks that the district would normally assign to outside contractors. In his report to the District 56 School Trustees Monday evening, Dr. Pitts said the simultaneous work both inside the building and to the roof were progressing and were on time and under budget. Planning is now underway for replacement of the heating and air conditioning system. The district is also now taking bids for the required painting.
The target date to occupy the building as the district’s middle school facility is August, 2015.
