The Daisy Brownie Girl Scout Troop 1145 and its leader, Brenda Simmons were in attendance at last night’s Laurens County Council meeting. City Council recognized the troop for helping with litter clean up in city parks in an effort to earn their Quest Journey Badge. The troop explained to council members how long certain materials remained in landfills before decomposing, and how those materials harm the environment.
Speaking of environmental matters, Mayor Sharon Brownlee told City Council Tuesday evening that the three contest winners in the Laurens’ search for anti-litter slogans will be announced at 10:00 Thursday morning.
