Natural gas line safety is a concern for many people, in light of the recent explosion in New York City that killed several people. Locally, the Laurens CPW has been working to replace the oldest natural gas lines in its system over recent months. General Manager John Young told the Commissioners earlier this week that Phase 1 of the pipeline replacement project is going very well. He said the contractor has most of the mains installed and will soon begin working on individual service lines. Young said he doesn’t expect any problems in having Phase I complete by the deadline this coming July. The Wattsville community is the primary focus on this phase of natural gas line replacements for the Laurens CPW.
