A Joanna man was booked in the Laurens County Detention Center Sunday, following an alleged break-in at a neighbor’s residence in the nighttime and an alleged domestic assault Saturday.
53-year-old Don Edward Townsend of 514 Magnolia Street, Joanna was charged yesterday with 1st Degree Burglary and with a 3rd Degree charge of Domestic Violence.
Deputy Brown cites an investigation by Deputy Perry as indicating that on August 12th in Laurens County Mr. Townsend entered a dwelling on Magnolia Street, Joanna without consent and with intent to commit a crime therein. He allegedly entered the dwelling at night.
A Domestic Violence warrant, which also cites an investigation of Deputy Perry, states that on August 12th Mr. Townsend struck the victim on the mouth, causing her lip to bleed, and had apparent present ability to cause physical harm, creating fear of imminent peril.
No bond was granted for either charge. Don Edward Townsend remained in the Laurens County Detention Center this morning.
