A man wanted for an Armed Robbery near Whitmire last Friday was arrested just outside Laurens early today. 41-year-old Jeffery Earl Gedeist was placed in the Johnson Detention Center. He reportedly has recent addresses on Maybinton Road, Whitmire and Chestnut Street in Laurens.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Nick Moye and Deputy Charles Nations went to a house on Strickland Drive south of Laurens at 1:00 o’clock this morning on information Gedeist could be there. Deputies note that the woman who answered the door acted in a manner to indicate his possible presence. They reported he was sitting on a sofa in the house, under a roll of carpet. When Deputy Nations was doing a check on the subject, he reportedly found a syringe wrapped in paper in one pocket and two bags of a white powdery substance in another pocket. Sgt. Moye indicates the substance field tested positive as methamphetamine, so a warrant to charge Possession of Meth is to be sought today. Meanwhile, Jeffery Earl Gedesit was being held in the county detention center for Union County, where he’s wanted for an Armed Robbery of a Dollar General Store just across the Enoree River from Whitmire last Friday.
