Black Friday is here. The day after Thanksgiving is traditionally one of the biggest shopping days of the year, as folks take advantage of personal time during the holiday weekend to shop. This year the move to expanding shopping time continued with some stores opening around 6:00 last evening.
While the big national store chains seem to benefit most from Black Friday, in recent years American Express has been sponsoring an event to get folks into smaller stores the Saturday after Black Friday, “Shop Small Saturday.”
This year, the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Laurens and the Clinton Business Association received grants from American Express that with increase the incentive for Laurens County residents to spending some time in the downtown areas of Clinton and Laurens tomorrow.
In an interview on this morning’s WLBG Morning News Magazine, Laurens County Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Greg Alexander said that the grants will enable local shoppers to receive extra incentives tomorrow morning. Main Street Laurens will have a tent on the Laurens Square and the Clinton Business Association will be stationed in Downtown Clinton with special gifts for shoppers who stop by in the morning. “There will be plenty of goodies….free bags….pens….and even gift cards, donated by American Express….$25 gift cards that will be used in local stores.”
Representatives from Clinton Business Association, Main Street Laurens and the Chamber of Commerce will be in Downtown Clinton and Laurens in the morning as local shoppers receive these incentives from 9:00 until Noon.
So save some of your energy on Black Friday for “Shop Small Saturday.”
