Clinton Public Safety Officer Chris Wilkes was dispatched to a North Broad residence at 9 minutes after midnight this morning on a report of a fight in progress. He arrived to find no one fighting, but a woman outside her apartment approached and reportedly told a story about a man who lives in an apartment below hers charging at her with a knife. She said that he bangs on his ceiling and so she went down to confront him about it last night, and that he came at her with a knife, reportedly following as she fled back to her apartment. The officer then talked with the man who denied having a knife. The officer, however, reportedly located a knife matching a description in the man’s kitchen sink. A witness was also interviewed to determine what had occurred. Police then arrested the man and a sliver knife with a black handle was seized. 53-year-old Lonnie Lee Wilkes of 505 North Broad, Apartment 8, was being held in city jail this morning, pending a court appearance, where an Assault charge was to be sought.
