Two people were injured by gunfire late Sunday night on the northern edge of Clinton. Public Safety Director Robin Morse told WLBG News that it appears the gunfire erupted near a party that was going on at a location just outside town on Highway 308. He said indications are that words were exchanged between some of the party-goers, and the altercation erupted into gunfire inside the city limits where cars had been parked in an open field off North Broad at Tandy Way. Officers were dispatched on the shooting around 11:30 last night, according to a police report. Chief Morse said it appears that there were at least two shooters, and two victims. Initial indication was that the victims may have not been involved in the actual shooting. Two cars were also damaged by gunfire. One was a car that one of the shooting victims had got inside. Unfortunately, a gunshot came through the car and struck that person in the leg. Morse said that neither of the shooting victims appeared to have life-threatening injuries. Detective Tyrone Goggins was investigating the late Sunday night shooting. Director Robin Morse indicated that officers were having some difficulty getting people who had been in the area to tell what they saw.
