Four people received citations related to their alleged actions regarding railroad crossings in the Clinton area yesterday. Deputy Jamison Taylor was on Springdale Drive at the US 76 Intersection at 9:11 am and reported observing a tractor-trailer rig ignore the state-posted sign that instructs all trucks to stop before the railroad tracks that are adjacent to the intersection. Noting the rig had stopped with the trailer on the railroad tracks, he made a traffic stop and issued a Summons to the Augusta, Georgia driver for Disregarding a Traffic Control device.

Later that hour, at 9:55, Officer Taylor reported observing a 24-year-old Clinton woman walk across the railroad tracks downtown near the Broad Street crossing, but not at the crossing grade. She was issued a ticket charging her with Trespassing on Railroad tracks.

At 1:02 yesterday afternoon Deputy Taylor was traveling from Highway 76 to Highway 72 on Charlotte’s Road when he observed a white car and a blue pickup drive around the lowered crossing gates at the railroad crossing. He activated blue lights and siren and stopped both vehicles. Two Clinton-area men, aged 73 and 34, were issued citations for Disregarding a Traffic Control Device.
