An assault on a bus driver delivering kids from school this past Wednesday afternoon was cited by Laurens City Police with a Friday arrest.
29-year-old Marquita Jeanette Henry of Apt 71 at 218 Spring Street, Laurens was charged with Assault and Battery 3rd Degree and with Brach of Peace of a High and Aggravated Nature. Master Patrolman Michael Polson states that on August 26th Ms. Henry assaulted a man by stepping onto the school bus he was driving and striking him with an open hand to his face and upper body. This allegedly occurred at 218 Spring Street as the victim was dropping off kids from school. Officer Polson also further alleges that Ms. Henry committed Breach of Peace of a High and Aggravated Nature by getting on the bus and attacking the driver while using profanities and provoking a fight among students. The officer further states that Ms. Henry’s actions caused chaos on the bus where the children’s safety was in danger and also causing fear, and causing the students to be terrified.
Marquita Jeanette Henry was released from the Johnson Detention Center Friday afternoon on personal recognizance bonds totaling $6,000.
