A lot of air traffic is expected at the Laurens County Airport this Sunday morning. Laurens is hosting the South Carolina Fly-In Breakfast Club, which meets every other Sunday. We asked Laurens County Airport Commission Chairman George S. “Sammy” Wham when the planes will arrive. “Planes will start arriving about 8:30 or 9:00 o’clock in the morning. They’ll come from all over the state and they will depart….pretty much all will be gone by about noon.”

Sammy Wham said anyone interested in airplanes or any aspect of aviation is invited to come out, even by car. “The local public is invited. People can come out and walk around, look at the airplanes, talk with the people, also can participate with the breakfast if they like. It’s a public event for also the flying as well as the non-flying public.”

The South Carolina Fly-In Breakfast Club has been meeting at a different airport every other Sunday for 38 years, except for times of fuel shortage during WW II. More information on the Fly-In SC Breakfast Club is available at their web site: www.FlySCBC.com . That site had videos of most of the fly-ins, including Laurens every year since 2012.
