The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office yesterday received an inmate from a state prison to serve charges on him that allege crimes in Laurens County in January of 2018. 49-year-old Charles Eugene Stokes of Fielding Lane, Fountain Inn was charged with Assault and Battery 3rd Degree and Malicious Damage.
Warrants cite an investigation of Deputy Atwood indicates that on January 14, 2018 Stokes attempted to commit a battery upon another man by striking him about the face and that on the same day he did property damage to another man’s property by tearing a door and door frame off the wall.
Bonds on the two charges were set yesterday totaling $3,087.50.
Stokes being held on a detainer for the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
