Laurens Police were dispatched to Pridmore Street at 11:18 last night on a report of an assault in progress. A woman called to say she and her sister were arguing about her nephew being taken outside and the argument turned physical when she struck her sister in the back with a fist. She said while she and her sister were fighting, a man came in and grabbed her by the hair and jerked her away from her sister. She said she grabbed her phone to call the police and the man knocked the phone from her hand. Her mother reportedly attempted to come between her and the man and he allegedly knocked the older woman down. Officer Logan Kanipe reported the mother was very upset and unable to talk with officers at the scene. EMS transported the 52-year-old mother to hospital to be treated. Police reported finding pictures had been knocked from the walls in the living room of the residence. Officer Kanipe made telephone contact with the man, who had left the scene, and he said he lived out in the county and the City Police could do nothing about it. The officer advised that a warrant for assault would be obtained for his arrest. The man reportedly advised if officers wanted him they could find him at his residence.
