Shoplifting has become a rather common charge, especially for Laurens Police responding to Wal-Mart. But sometimes the charge is more that simple Shoplifting….like yesterday, with the arrest of 61-year-old James Fred Miller of 73 Atomic Drive, Laurens. Mr. Miller’s charge was Shoplifting Enhanced. Lt. David Brewer states in a warrant that investigation indicates that James Fred Miller took a Lew’s Rod and Reel valued at $85 from Wal-Mart on May 18th, and that he has already been convicted of Enhanced Shoplifting, making this an Enhanced Shoplifting Charge. A cash or surety bond on the Enhanced Shoplifting case from this past Monday totaled $20,000. Fred Miller remained in the Johnson Detention Center this morning.
